Spring on the farm
When little splashes of color gleam from the earth and bees buzz around, you have chosen the perfect time to visit a wonderful place.
It is spring at Blou Porselein Guest Farm!
The open fields are filled with patches of warm colored “gousblomme”. Arum-lilies brighten up the pale riverbank and all the bees awaken to spread the color and as the earth enlightens, so do we.
All guests receive a bunch of freshly picked arum-lilies locally known as “varkore” or “vark blomme”, directly translated to “piglet ears” or “piglet flowers”. You can see that the lilies look exactly like a little piglet’s ear.
After the wet winter, our vegetables are so happy to see the sun they start sprouting. Peas start blooming and the spinach enlarges to about 35cm a leaf. Guests are more than welcome to harvest their own fresh home-grown vegetables.
On your way to the guest farm, you will see peach tree blossoms and wheat heads peeking out. In September, the wheat crops grow the final bit. It is beautiful to see the hairy heads glance in the early sun rays, it looks like a golden blanket blessing the crops.
We invite you to visit us during the most vibrant time of the year and experience the joys of nature and farming!
